Women Behind Paulin Watches

For International Women’s Day we want to celebrate women behind Paulin Watches. Paulin Watches was founded by Paulin sisters, and being a female entrepreneur could be a challenge, but having a sister by your side makes it all that much easier. We chat with Eleanor and Charlotte from Paulin about celebrating Women’s Day and share with you other women behind Paulin Watches. :)

Eleanor, 27, Creative Director at Paulin

What advice would you give your younger self?

Continue creating and making whatever you want, you never know what you’ll end up doing and when those skills will come in handy.

Which women inspire you?

I have five sisters who inspire me, they all approach situations in completely different ways which is what I think is so interesting, every woman is unique.

How important is it for women to lift each other up and what does that mean to you?

Encouragement and support always brings out the best in people, and when you’re at your best that starts to rub off on everyone around you.

What was the last thing you did for yourself?

Every morning I get to work early, just to sit with a cup of tea by myself before the day starts. Having a half an hour of peace before the day starts is the perfect way to treat myself.

Charlotte, 35, Creative Director at Paulin

What advice would you give your younger self?

Be kind to yourself.

Which women inspire you?

All the working mothers juggling school drop offs/pick ups, holidays, sick kids, playdates...In my eyes they are all superwomen and should give themselves a good pat on the back!

How important is it for women to lift each other up and what does that mean to you?

It is very important for woman to support and lift each other up. I have five sisters, and understand the great importance we play in each others lives. Only a woman knows what it's like to be a woman, and we should look after each other.

What was the last thing you did for yourself?

A long, hot bath.

Imogen Ayres, 26, Graphic design (predominantly typeface design)

Have conviction in your opinion!

Everyone has imposter syndrome - fake something 3 times and you're an expert (in the words of Paula Scher)

Which women inspire you?

My friends! But also, Natalie Wynn, Lafawndah, Lydia Blakeley

HOW IMPORTANT IS IT FOR WOMEN TO LIFT EACH OTHER UP AND WHAT DOES THAT MEAN TO YOU?

To me personally it means having supportive friends and colleagues, people you can look up to and in turn offer support.

What was the last thing you did for yourself?

Bought a second hand leather jacket that makes me feel like bad bitch.

Justyna, 27, Head of Marketing

What advice would you give your younger self?

If you want it - go get it, don't get discouraged that other people are further in the journey to what you'd want to be. Don't constantly look for approval.

Which women inspire you?

I am proud to say that women I surround myself with are the most supportive,  inspirational, brave and kindest humans. I had the pleasure to work with my best friend Cara that always stood by my side, supported me and challenged me to be my better self.

One to follow: Fantastic, inspirational and one of the strongest women I know: Sophie Morgan @sophlmorg Sophie Morgan is leading an inclusion revolution for disabled people around the world.

How important is it for women to lift each other up and what does that mean to you?

Oftentimes women are put up against each other to compete. I have experienced that in the past but always came out of it with a stronger bond with other women than before. We need to support each other and collaborate.

What was the last thing you did for yourself?

Bubble bath and face masks and little DIY projects around the house!

Jess, 22, Sales Assistant (but I also run community arts projects!)

What advice would you give your younger self?

Don't rely on what other people think!!! Do what makes you happy and say byeeee to everything else. I still have to keep reminding myself of this and probably will forever.

Which women inspire you?

Robyn Davidson, who walked 1700 miles across Australia in 1975 and wrote the book Tracks about the walk.

Gina Martin, who campaigned to make upskirting illegal a couple of years ago after being assaulted at a festival.

Florence Given, author and also instagram influencer who puts lots of dancing vids on insta. All the ladies in my family! My mum, sister, cousins, auntie and grandma.

How important is it for women to lift each other up and what does that mean to you?

So important!!! It means building other womens' confidence to call things out and fight for equality, but also means strong friendships that can support you foreverrrrr. I'm happiest when I'm with other women who love being a woman!

What was the last thing you did for yourself?

I joined an all female singing group because singing makes me happy and being with other ladies makes me happier :) I also bought a new pair of walking boots so I can go out on my solo hikes I've been planning!
