Here at Paulin, we’re in constant awe of the original talent and artistry surrounding us, and we want to do all we can to celebrate it. For the past year, though Covid-19 has tried to hinder us, we have continued to utilise our space, normally conceived for retail, to give others a platform to showcase their unique talents.

Our Stockbridge shop at 30b Raeburn place featuring an original mural by KFRBS

Following our first exhibition titled Process, which featured works from artists and creatives from all over Scotland and the UK, ranging from paintings to pottery to installations, we were very keen to showcase more exciting local talent.

This brings us to our newest exhibition with emerging visual Artist Katie Forbes (KFRBS). Based in Glasgow, her work has been popping up all over the city on various walls and she even designed and painted  the window mural you can see in our Stockbridge shop! So, it seemed fitting we continued our creative relationship with her.

Originally studying Architecture and graduating in 2019, it was only during the pandemic that she started making her first love - art and drawing – work for her. And she is doing impressively well! Graphic and bold in style, her work is often concerned with humorous and subversive depictions of “mundane” subject matters and everyday activities.

“My style is my style…I have just taken it as it comes. I’m very open-minded so things can just fall into place.”

The exhibition on display in Stockbridge It’s Still Life, is a collection of original paintings and ink drawings made during the last year.

The exhibition will run until the 8th of September so if you are in the neighbourhood be sure to pop into our Stockbridge shop to see her work.  You will also be able to pick up a limited edition print if you are lucky!
