Paulin dials have a distinct aesthetic, created by a combination of bold layouts, custom typography, and unique colour combinations.
Our design of our core range takes inspiration from art and architectural movements. The Geo typeface, used on our wall clock, references Art Deco forms in homage to Glasgow’s Charles Rennie Mackintosh. When designing the Neo we looked to postmodernism, which was a reaction against the austere tastes of previous generations. Similarly, we felt the need to move away from minimalist designs and embrace the more joyful style that has now become our signature.

Our Modul and Mara dials are produced in Germany by the renowned manufacturer Cador. The machined brass surface is painted with opaque lacquer to achieve a matte finish. The dial is then pad printed, using layers to build up a relief. For some models, Super-LumiNova is added using a combination of machine and hand processes.
Our Neo dials are milled from aluminium sheets, anodised and dyed in the UK. Very few companies use anodised aluminium for watch dials owing to its high rejection rate, which we’ve managed to reduce over the years from 30% to 5%. Read more about the anodising process here.
Our clock dials are screenprinted locally in small batches by Matthew Rich of M.A.R.S Screenprinting Studio. Located in the Glue Factory in Glasgow, Matthew has more than 40 years of screenprinting experience, initially printing posters for events and musicians before moving into fine art. Each Paulin clock dial is individually printed onto a Dibond blank, produced in London by a signage manufacturer.
