A company that makes physical products will always have an environmental impact. At Paulin, we aim to minimise this as much as possible without compromising on beauty, functionality or price.
This also means being socially responsible and ensuring we work with manufacturers that provide good working conditions, fair wages and development opportunities to their employees. We believe transparency around production is essential in raising standards across the industry.
Another important step to reducing environmental harm is making products that are built to last. This means making considered choices about how and where we make each part of our products and choosing partners with solid industry reputations when outsourcing. Central to this methodology is the provision of an in-house repair service.
Our manufacturing has moved from the industry's traditional large-scale production to a leaner, more local model, meaning we produce less waste. Certain elements, such as cases and movements, are made by relatively few factories, and most have high minimum order quantities. Producing smaller amounts is almost always more costly, so a balancing act is needed to keep prices accessible.
There is still work to be done, and we will continue to make steps towards leaner manufacturing, as well as introducing a service to upgrade and refurbish existing watches.
